OT Assessments

Why Do I Need An Assessment?

Occupational Therapy assessments are pivotal in identifying a child's developmental strengths, challenges, and therapy needs. Our therapists conduct in-depth analysis and interpretation of assessment results to create individualized therapy goals and intervention plans tailored to your child's specific requirements.

We are able to provide the following assessments:

Initial Screening Assessment

A combination of informal and formal standardized assessment tools may be used to analyse your child’s sensory, gross motor, fine motor, social interaction, play, cognitive and self care abilities.

The summary report includes information from parent interviews, clinical observations, recommendations for future services and occupational therapy goals.

Functional Capacity Assessment

A comprehensive evaluation is conducted to identify your child's functional abilities and any restrictions that they may experience in their daily tasks.

A detailed report is provided on key areas such as communication, social interaction, learning, mobility, self care and community accessibility, which may be used to support funding needs.

Handwriting Assessment (DASH)

A formal evaluation of your child's handwriting legibility, speed and pencil grip. Your child's letter formation, spacing, alignment, legibility and uniformity of slope and size of letters will also be evaluated.

Fit-in Assessment

We understand that the waiting period for regular therapy appointments can be long. In the case of a cancelled appointment, we offer fit-in assessments for families who are flexible with appointment times.

If therapeutic intervention is required, you will be prioritised for ongoing therapy appointments or contacted when a cancellation occurs.
